My opinion offended you?

I’ve offended some people lately - of course, that was never my intention. I never pointed fingers, named names or EVER called anyone out. ALL of my opinions have been general, broad and … my feelings. Yet somehow, I receive comments and private notes from people saying that THEY were personally offended … PERSONALLY OFFENDED … as though my opinion piece called them out by name or pointed a finger directly into their face in disgrace.

NONE of this happened. Ever. Yet, I’m being made to feel guilty. Or at least, that’s how I perceive their reactions.

I don’t mind if people don’t agree with me — that’s fine. I’m cool with that; it makes for a good convo. But when someone takes my personal, verbal, public opinion and makes it a personal shame on them, they lose me. Peace. I’m out. That is the craziest crap ever! My opinion — 0% directed at you — offended you? …come again?? F’realz? Like…f’realz??

Now, I’ve got some REALLY THICK SKIN. Like, really thick. And I don’t expect the rest of the world to have rhino skin like me, but there’s got to be some sort of checks and balance for this silliness.

In the past…long, long past when my skin was still thickening, I would have probably felt really bad, apologized and kept my future opinions to myself. Instead, here’s what I have to say…

It’s amazing what age and wisdom will bring. Yay me for letting my opinion out! :D
